SFMOMA 2014 BAY AREA TREASURE AWARD DINNER HONORING JONY IVE
Every year the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art presents the highly
anticipated Bay Area Treasure Award Dinner. Bay Area Treasure is an
annual lifetime achievement award celebration recognizing a Bay Area
artist who continually defines and redefines contemporary art. Proceeds
from the event support SFMOMA's education programs and celebrated
exhibitions.
In 2014, the Bay Area Treasure Award Dinner took
place on Thursday, October 30 at the Julia Morgan Ballroom in San
Francisco and honored Apple head of product design Jony Ive. As the
driving force behind the look and feel of Apple products, Ive is one of
today's most innovative and influential design minds. His revolutionary
achievements in the field have transformed our visual world.
Bay
Area Treasure celebrations began with a launch party on Monday,
September 22 at the Paul Smith store in Union Square, and featured a
Ferrari California T, brought by Ferrari of San Francisco, prominently
placed at the entrance. More than 150 museum supporters attended this
exclusive party with Jony Ive from Apple.
On October 30ththe Bay
Area Treasure guests were greeted by a Ferrari front and center. Dinner
began with a reception for sponsors followed by a seated dinner. During
dinner, guests enjoyed an illuminating conversation with Apple designer
Jony Ive, followed by the presentation of the 2014 Bay Area Treasure
Award. The event was attended by 355 guests and raised more than
$340,000 for SFMOMA's exhibition and education programs that strengthen
communities throughout the Bay Area and beyond.
